Providing health and well-being opportunities for People with Disabilities through fun, engaging adapted physical activity and accessible Yoga. There are many physical, emotional, psychological and social benefits for People with Disabilities participating fully in physical activity or Yoga. From a functional point of view physical activity or Yoga will help to improve gross and fine motor skills, balance, flexibility, strength, cardiovascular endurance, and weight loss. In addition to the many health benefits the pleasure and enjoyment that comes from movement and engaging with others can be sufficient reasons in themselves for participation.
Michael has a B.Sc (H) in Adapted Physical Activity (APA) and really enjoys teaching APA and Yoga at Prosper Fingal, a day service for adults with intellectual disabilities in North County Dublin. Also, Michael is delighted to have been recently appointed as the Sports coordinator for the Prosper Fingal Special Olympics clubs!
